that. >> stay with us forc that. closed captioning by closed captioning services,inc the death toll from sunday's quake in turkey has climbed to more than 200 people. miraculous stories of people being rescued. seven rushed to the hospital after two vehicles collide in a san francisco intersection. the drivers of both vehicles are suspected of driving under the influence. oakland mayor quan does an about face on youth curfews. the administrator says the mayor is in favor of some sort of curfew. live look to the east no clouds west clouds lurking at the coast sea breeze coming back.

live look at the bay bridge toll plaza, a few folks paying cash to get into the city otherwise just overnight roadwork. more people will be getting into the city over the next couple of hours and elsewhere. thanks for joining us i'm eric top mass. and i'm kristen sze seven hospitalized with major injuries this morning after a minivan ran a red light and plowed into another car before 2:00 this morning at 10th and howard seats in the south of market. police detained both drivers for blood tests. they are investigating whether alcohol was involved. the minivan may be connected to an earlier hit-and-run. so far no arrests have been made. all victims suffered major injuries. they are expected to survive. the death toll has reached 270, following a massive quake that turkey. the 7.2 quake injured another 1,000 people. katie marzullo is live with

the latest on the search for survivors. >> reporter: one of the most recent stories we are hearing is that of a man rescued from the rubble after he called for help on his cell phone. three others were saved from the same spot. there's this video you can watch as workers use chisels to cut away concrete and metal and pull the man free of the debris. he was under a collapsed six story building. he looks limp, but he's alive. the injured are recovering in a tent set up for triage. there are not enough hospitals to handle the wounded. the death toll has reached 270 people. it is expected to grow. but not as substantially as initially feared according to turkey's interior minister. an eastern city near the iranian border was hardest hit, 80 multi-story buildings collapse.

authorities are warning people to stay away. people standing right on top of the buildings, on top of the rubble and digging through with their bare hands in a desperate attempt to find more survivors. there are others filing to bus stations trying to get out of town. within the first 10 hours of the quake u.s. scientists recorded more than 100 aftershocks. the shaking could continue for days. again death toll in turkey 270. katie marzullo, abc7 news. many turks in the bay area are having a hard time getting in touch with family members in turkey. scenes of recovery efforts have been playing nonstop on turkish television. one bay area man says where the quake was centered isn't equipped with many hospitals. he was able to reach his father yesterday but many more loved ones are missing.

>> friends and relatives, and you know they are dead under those concrete buildings, suffering and probably most of them are dead by now. >> another bay area man says he has a sister in one of the hardest hit areas iphone lines are down and all he can do is -- areas -- all he can do is wait. road rage may have thread to a deadly crash in san leandro. the highway patrol believes the driver of a transit van deliberately hit a motorcycle saturday and dragged it several miles. the van driver is 31-year-old eddie hall of oakland. the motorcyclist died. investigators say he was with a group of six to eight bikers believed to be hells angels. they believe he had some sort of confrontation on the freeway with hall. >> it sounds like the van was moving over to get into a lane that maybe the motorcycle was

in. i don't know if there was communication between the two, unknown at this point. suddenly, the van turned and hit the motorcycle. >> police say hall pulled the van over to the shoulder of the freeway. investigators say he tried to run but was caught and arrested. investigators not connecting that incident with the search for hells angels member accused of killing another member. police say steve ruiz is wanted in the fatal shooting of steve towson it happened last weekend. over the weekend officers got a tip that ruiz was at a house in stockton, a search turned up nothing. police say ruiz is armed and dangerous. a treasured relic missing from st. mary's in san francisco. security guards say this historic bell church bell was last seen mounted on the parking lot pedestal 2:00 yesterday morning. the bell has been part of

st. mary's since the 1600s. it was salvaged from burned out ruins of the old cathedral in 19672. in august of last year, -- 1962. in august of last year another bell disappear. the circumstances were similar and that bell hasn't been seen since. seven san francisco mayoral candidates are asking for a full investigation into possible election fraud by supporters of mayor ed lee. over the weekend, candidate ye's campaign released video that appears to show -- one complaint specifically mentions several special plastic stencils placed over ballots that would prevent voters from selecting a candidate other than lee. lease's spoke man says the mayor is just as up -- lee's

spokesman says the mayor is just as upset. >> that group doesn't represent anything about his campaign. we want that group to cease and desist immediately. >> the seven candidates calling for federal oversight are: oakland mayor quan has changed her mind and now supporting a crime fighting measure she once opposed. aides say is now in favor of some sort of curfew. how it would be implemented must be worked out. city administrator santana is working with staff to create a plan that would work with existing resources. city council president says the change of heart is new to him. he backs the curfew but says quan has blocked its passage

health care providers to show they are all everyday people. the ads with will run on 50 muni buses through mid november. apple is making the company's memorial service for steve jobs available online now. the service was held last wednesday at apple's cupertino headquarters. i was open to employees only. the -- it was open to employees only. it stars with a speech from tim cook who replaced jobs. he described jobs as having the curiosity of a child and the mind of a genius. jobs died october 5th, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. you can find a link to the video at apple.com. revealing new book about the apple co-founder comes out today. the biographer had unprecedented access to jobs. he conducted 40 interviews the last took place weeks before jobs died. lillian kim has more. >> reporter: at books inc, in the castro district, copies

not a bad drive towards cupertino northbound 280. toll plaza no lights. smooth drive westbound on the incline through treasure island into san francisco. abc7news.com/traffic for the latest. san jose fire investigators still trying to determine the cause of a blaze at an apartment complex that displaced 50 people. firefighters had to rescue six people from the burning building at south king road yesterday morning. a few residents rushed to knock on doors to warn neighbors. flames caused heavy damage to the 20 unit complex. >> there was so much smoke and flame they could barely get in to attack the fire. people running in and out trying to get a rescue the people up on the balcony and within the apartment complex. >> fortunately, no one was hurt. the red cross has been helping

victims. target stores recalling children's masks because of a danger of suffocation. 3400 of the plush green frog masks were sold for a dollar each at target stores nationwide. they do not have proper ventilation. so far there have been no reports of injuries. the masks can and should be returned to target for a refund. in san jose west coast only breast milk bank says demand haszuh[÷ skyrocketed andy is dwindling. the -- the mother's milk bank of california is only able to provide milk to neonatal intensive care units. the bank relies on donation from mothers who pump extra milk. the internet has caused a down turn in donations with some mothers selling their milk on ebay. russian sailing ship's visit to san francisco isn't going to happen. the 36 foot long ship was
